I am- The Bread of Life

 

• I am the Bread of Life (John 6:35)

• I am the Light of the World (John 8:12)

• I am the Door (John 10:9)

• I am the Good Shepherd (John 10:11,14)

• I am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)

• I am the Way and the Truth and the Life (John 14:6)

• I am the Vine (John 15:1,5)

 

 

John 8:12 ESV

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

 

This statement comes after a woman was caught in adultery. Jesus says to her captures whoever has no sin cast the first stone. They all left knowing their own guilt. Jesus has the only right to throw the stone and yet chose mercy and then offered liberation by saying where are your accusers? Then neither do I condemn you now go and sin no more.      

 

Genesis 1:1-4 ESV

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.”

 

Isaiah 60:1-2 ESV

 

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.”

 

When Jesus says I am the light of the world this is a statement of liberation. Liberation from spiritual darkness and evil!

 

John 12:46 ESV

 

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”

 

In declaring Himself to be the Light of the world, Jesus was claiming that He is the exclusive source of spiritual light and life it’s self. The only way to be liberated from darkness is through the light of Jesus.

 

Signs you may be living in darkness

• Feeling disconnected from God 

• Unable to hear God’s voice 

• Number to feelings 

• Controlled by sin or desires of flesh.

 

How to come to the light

Goes through a process 

It’s exposed to light and the. Washed and then the Uniate is fixed 

 

“"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 ESV

 

You can’t experience God’s unconditional love until you are honest about your condition.
